Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation

Application Deadline: The Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation board meets three times each year to consider requests. Board meetings take place in winter (January or February), spring (April or May), and fall (October). The foundation would like to have all requests submitted for consideration no later than one month prior to each board meeting, and deadlines are strictly enforced. Applicants are generally notified in writing within three to four weeks after the board meeting.

Description: The mission of the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation is to give back to and strengthen the thousands of communities where Enterprise's employees and customers work and live through charitable support. The foundation provides charitable support to worthwhile nonprofit initiatives that are actively supported by the company's employees, their spouses, and loyal Enterprise customers in the thousands of local communities where Enterprise operates its businesses. It also provides more sizable special grants to nonprofit groups or causes of significant strategic or social importance to the company and its employees.

Funding Amount: The average grant amount is $2,500 to $5,000.

Who May Apply: The foundation provides grants only to qualified tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organizations in the United States, and requires that a copy of the 501(c)(3) letter be attached to the proposal.

YOUTH GARDENING

National Gardening Association and Home Depot -- 2009 Youth Garden Grants Program

Application Deadline: November 1, 2008

Description: The National Gardening Association (NGA) awards Youth Garden Grants to schools and community organizations with child-centered garden programs. In evaluating grant applications, priority will be given to programs that emphasize one or more of these elements:

Funding Amount: Gift cards of $1,000, $500, or $250 to Home Depot, and educational materials from NGA will be awarded.

Who May Apply: Schools, youth groups, community centers, camps, clubs, treatment facilities, and intergenerational groups in the United States are eligible to apply. Applicants must plan to garden with at least fifteen children between the ages of 3 and 18. Previous Youth Garden Grant winners who wish to reapply may do so but must wait a year.
